1. When I’m 64 – The Beatles

This is one of those classic songs about growing old together. The Beatles were always fantastic at producing great lyrics to their songs, even if the meaning wasn’t always immediately apparent. When I’m 64 makes it very clear what it is about. It is a song about a man that is a bit worried about whether he will still be loved when he is old. He talks about losing his hair, whether he will still get birthday greetings, etc. It is a fun song with a deep meaning.

2. Prettiest Eyes – The Beautiful South

It’s a shame that The Beautiful South is not too well known outside of the UK and perhaps Germany. They have some amazing songs with great lyrics. When it comes to songs about growing old together, this is one of our favorites. It talks about the first date a person had, and then the subsequent growing up with one another. How even though looks change, that doesn’t stop love.

3. I Wanna Grow Old With You – Westlife

Westlife was well known for producing some great love songs. Well, according to their legions of British fans. While this wasn’t one of their most well-known songs, it is the perfect example of how their lyrics could encapsulate the romance theme. This song features a relatively new couple who are having to spend some time apart. It hurts them, but they always have plans to grow older together with one another. In fact, the song even goes as far as to say they would die in each other’s arms. Yeah. It is still romantic.

4. Mirror – Justin Timberlake

Mirror is a song that Justin Timberlake wrote in tribute to his grandparents. The song talks about how there is always a perfectly matched couple. How two people complete one another. The song’s title even implies that. When you love somebody so much, it is like looking in a mirror to their soul. You are going to grow old together because you can’t live without your mirror image.

5. Say You Won’t Let Go – James Arthur

This song from James Arthur follows the same story as many songs from the younger folk. The main character of the song meets a person in a bar, and then falls in love with her seemingly overnight. He then has dreams about growing old together with her and getting to know more about her as a person. He even goes as far as to say that he wants to be a ghost with her. Yep. You read that right. We swear that this is a great, romance song though.

6. Grow Old With Me – Tom Odell

Tom Odell sings about a couple who are still new in their relationship, but they already have that spark that indicates they could grow old together. He talks about how he loves her for exactly who she is. He talks about how even as she ages, that love is never going to change. Even if they are covered in wrinkles, he is still going to believe that she is the most beautiful woman in the world. It is a very sweet song and easily one of our favorites.

7. Mary’s Song – Taylor Swift

We know that Taylor Swift is perhaps best known for her songs about breaking up with pretty much every man under the sun, but she does sing about actual love sometimes. Mary’s Song is about her neighbors, an elderly couple that has been in love for decades. When you listen to it, you can’t help but feel that this is the very thing that Taylor Swift craves in her life. That love that is going to last forever.

8. Grow Old With You – Adam Sandler

This is a half-comedy song, a half-tribute to his wife. While there are a couple of jokes thrown in for good measure, it is a song that Adam Sandler sings to tell his wife how much he wants to grow old with her, how he has enjoyed every moment with her, and that he looks forward to spending the rest of his life doing that. You will let out a little chuckle every now and then too.

9. Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran

This is another song from one of the young ones that have found somebody that they believe they love. This song is about the character of the lyrics wanting to grow old with somebody that he has only gone on a couple of dates with. This is a song that you have probably heard countless times before, but give it another listen. Ed Sheeran has a beautiful voice and the chorus is amazing.

10. Forever and For Always – Shania Twain

Shania Twain has some beautiful songs about love, and this is easily one of our favorites. Forever and For Always is about two people who are completely in love but are apart. The character talks about how she has already decided that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. She loves him too much to consider letting him go, even if the time apart is really hurting her.

11. Time After Time – Cyndi Lauper

Putting aside the fact that Time After Time is one of the best songs of the era, this song is also a gorgeous song about growing old together. You may not necessarily know that when you sing along, though. You will have to take a deep dive into the lyrics to see how Cyndi Lauper is talking about a woman that is willing to wait for the person that she loves for the rest of her life. No matter what happens when she grows old, she is going to be there ‘time after time’.

12. More Than Words – Extreme

Extreme got some flack when they released this song because it was so different to everything that they had in their song library at the time. Although, the somewhat ironic thing is that it is now one of the only songs that people remember of theirs. It talks about how when the couple grows older, they never need to say “I love you” again because the words won’t matter. The actions would, and it was clear that they are going to love each other for that long.

13. When a Man Loves a Woman – Michael Bolton

Michael Bolton has put out some real crackers in his time. All of his songs are about love, and he has been the crush of many women and men over the years. This song is about how when a man falls in love with a woman for the rest of his life, he is blind to a lot of what she does. How for the rest of his life, he is going to give her everything that he has. They share it.

14. I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

This song is pretty much self-explanatory. While it is not a Whitney Houston song (it was originally Dolly Parton), it was the Whitney Houston song that is the most well-known. Not surprising, really. It was the soundtrack for The Bodyguard. The song talks about how no matter how tough life will get for the couple over the years, they will always love one another.

15. Because You Loved Me – Celine Dion

This is one of our favorite songs of all time. Celine Dion sings about how her partner has constantly been her strength over the years. How she survives because ‘you loved me’.  How everything that she has accomplished in her life is due to the beautiful love that the two of them share. The chorus is fantastic too, although we are sure that you knew that part!

16. I Love You Always Forever – Donna Lewis

Sadly, this is a song that many people may not have heard of. It wasn’t a massive hit outside the UK. However, it is worth checking out for those that want a great song about growing old together. The lyrics feature an older couple that are thinking back and remembering the love that they had they were younger. All those magical moments. She is begging her partner to say that he will love her forever.

17. Dancing In The Minefields – Andrew Petersen

This song is about a couple who, fifteen years into their relationship, are still very much in love and planning to spend the rest of their lives together.

18. Amazed – Lonestar

This is probably one of the most popular first dances at weddings, and this comes as no surprise really. It is a whole song about how in love a couple is and how growing old together is exactly what is going to happen. It is about how, even in the future, when their eyes meet they will still feel that love they have held for the whole of their lives together.
