What makes Baker and the Beauty an LGBTQ-friendly show?

While the main love story centers around a straight cisgender couple, as noted above the ensemble includes several LGBTQ characters.

As out actor Dan Bucatinsky, who plays Noa’s gay manager, tells Georgia Voice, he was drawn to the show because of its “three-dimensional LGBT characters.”

“It is a romantic comedy but at the heart it’s a family show,” he says. “The 15-year-old daughter is dealing with her own identity and sexuality. You don’t see that in an ABC drama that often.”

Natalie’s story is one of those plot-lines that tackles the emotional challenge of coming out. The actress explains,:

I think initially the brother has some inkling about her but I think for the parents it’s a big shock. Things become a bit more challenging after she comes out. There is a lot of confusion as the family is processing it.”

Baker and the Beauty really does have a little something for everyone. The show airs on ABC on Monday nights at 10PM, so be sure to check it out!
