The Hallmark Channel is finally airing a movie featuring a same-sex couple. Wedding Every Weekend, which airs on August 15th, doesn’t put a heavy focus on the lesbian wedding, but the fact that they’re including one at all is definitely progress. Read on for the full story, plus find out what conservatives think about it.
Hallmark Finally Adds a Movie Featuring a Same-Sex Wedding to Their Lineup
While Hallmark has still not officially announced any Christmas LGBTQ films in the lineup this year, they seem to at least learn something from Zola disaster last year that the viewer sees spoke in favor of inclusion. As a result, the network will be airing a new movie next week that includes four marriages – one that has two brides. According to the movie’s description,
“Nate and Brooke are going to the same four weddings, four weekends in a row. To avoid set-ups, they go together as ‘wedding buddies.’ But what starts as a friendship soon becomes deeper.”
Although the description doesn’t specifically say that one of those is a same-sex wedding, a Hallmark Channel Facebook post clearly portrays a lesbian wedding.

Reactions to the ad range from joy to outrage. While most conservatives chimed in with statements like “I cannot support this” and “Done with Hallmark,” or “Stop pushing your gay agenda,” one commenter actually made a valid point from an LGBTQ standpoint.
Neither actress are gay in real life . Both are married to a guy each and have a baby or two . Seems odd to show a same sex wedding in this movie with straight actresses. Just my thought!
One Million Moms claims channel is “catering to the left”
Of course, One Million Moms couldn’t let even the most minor inclusion of a same-sex couple in a Hallmark film slide. According to a blog post on their website,
The once conservative network has recently caved to LGBTQ pressure and has done a one-eighty from the wholesome content the channel once aired, and the network is now catering to the Left.
In true One Million Moms fashion, they’re calling for a boycott, not just for the channel, but for “all things Hallmark.” That includes everything from greeting cards to Christmas ornaments.
Regardless of how many petitions they draw up and how many Hallmark cards they refuse to send this year, though, the channel is going forward with the film. Wedding Every Weekend airs Saturday, August 15th, at 9PM EST/8PM CST.
